A Few Don’ts
We don’t have a lot of rules, just a few, but see if any of these are a deal breaker for you!
No Alcohol Or Drugs
Gaia Sagrada is an alcohol and drug free zone. If you need to drink alcohol every day or smoke pot every day, this isn’t the right place for you.
Sometimes we have a party night where people can drink some wine and beer (no hard liquor, no drunkenness) but outside of that, it’s not a place to be addicted to substances. It never works out.
This is also not a rehabilitation zone. It doesn’t work. People think they can kick the habit, but once they get here, they only last a few days before they find their way to town to buy some alcohol or drugs.
If you are looking for a place to detox and dry out, this isn’t going to work. You won’t be able to hide it, either. We always know!
If you have addiction problems, we encourage you to be substance free for 6 months before coming here so you get the difficult parts out of the way before you come. We don’t have the facilities or personell for helping someone through this process.
No Hound Dogging
It is important to honor others and not to pursue them sexually. It makes it uncomfortable for people, women in particular, when the other sex tries to come on to them, especially if there are more than one vying for their sexual attention. Keep in mind that many women come here for the purpose of healing sexual abuse and mistreatment.
This is not to say that falling in love doesn’t happen here, because it does. A LOT! Many relationships were born at Gaia Sagrada, even marriages.
If love unfolds, let it happen naturally, without coercion, and without focus on getting sexual love from someone else. Just be yourself and if someone falls in love with you, let it unfold slowly. Be friends first, as all healthy relationships start with a friendship.
No Proseletyzing
Everyone who has a spiritual path wants to share it with others and encourage them to join them, but we would like to ask you not to do that. It is important that everyone feels comfortable here with their spirituality, or even lack thereof!
If others are interested in your religion, feel free to share your path, but no pressuring them to join you. They might just be curious.
That said, feel free to practice your spirituality and you can even join others of the same faith in meetings between you all for spiritual study. We encourage people to be deeply committed to their spiritual path if that is what they want to do.
Limit Conspiracy Talk
We all know there are some funky shenanigans going on in the world. In fact, these might be why you are considering Gaia Sagrada as a place to weather the world’s storms for a while. However, we encourage people to limit this focus. Not everyone is coming here because of these issues.
The goal at Gaia Sagrada is to focus on what is right in the world and amplify that. We are here to bring heaven frequencies to Earth. It’s hard to stay happy when there is s constant dialogue about what is wrong.
That said, we can schedule weekly or monthly group sharing sessions to talk about it in a centered manner if the community wishses to
Meat Can’t Be Cooked
We have found a compromise that seems to be working for everyone who is a meat eater. While you cannot cook meat here, you can keep what you buy in town here in the fridge, as long as it’s cold and doesn’t have to be cooked.
You can keep cans of tuna, dried meats, sandwich meats and rotisserie chicken if you like. We have no problem with people having meat as long as it isn’t mixed with the cooking that is going on in the vegetarian kitchen.
We hope that this compromise will be ok for you, and that you can understand why we have to keep the center free of meat cooking!
Unvaccinated Zone
This is a place for unvaccinated people, an unvaccinated zone, where everyone can feel safe. We do let vaccinated people come for the retreats, and we encourage everyone to be healthy, but we aren’t accepting vaccinated people for community living.
We have no judgement about anyone’s choice, but we are choosing to have an unvaccinated community. It is important that between retreats everyone can relax on their health protocols to avoid shedding from those who have been vaccinated.
All beings are sovereign and we always support everyone’s right to choose!
No Gossip Or Red-Dogging
It is important not to gossip or complain about others at Gaia Sagrada, staff, other guests, visitors, anyone. What this does is causes negativity to amplify and start to infect others with negativity who didn’t have negativity before. If you find yourself talking about anyone behind their back in a negative way, you are Red-Dogging.
Red Dog is what Native Americans call a person who spreads negativity and breaks up harmony and harmonious groups. We have seen this happen and it is a terrible thing when it gets out of control. It is like a virus that infects all the documents and there is no cure except ending the group and starting over, just like you would do on your computer when you get a virus that infects everything. It is the worst possible thing that could happen in our community.
We want everyone to instead handle whatever conflicts arise in a mature way. This means sitting down with the person who you have the conflict with and working it out. Conflict resolution and non-violent communication is the way it’s done.
If there is someone who bothers you or is upsetting you, if you cannot sit down and talk with that person directly, come to Gaia Sagrada staff and give us a chance to help you. We are pro’s at mediation and helping each party find a peaceful resolution, or we find a way to solve the problem.
Sometimes there is something that needs to change and we look at that if the suggestion is reasonable. There may be things you find that can be done better, so we welcome feedback! We didn’t get as good as we are at what we do by not listening to feedback on how we can do it better. We are always listening if the problem is with Gaia Sagrada itself.
Instead of complaining about it and being a downer to those around you and disturbing the harmony, let’s work it out! That’s what community and family is all about, conflicts will arise, and all of us in this community are here to show by example how to solve issues maturely, which is what will create world peace in the end.
